Happy Homemaker Monday (1/2/2017)

Well hello there friends! It is now 2017 and time to begin another year of blogging. Thank you to the ones that read and comment on my posts; it really makes my day.

Our New Year's Eve was wonderful. This was the first year that I let Rebecca stay up and she was wide awake until after the New Year came in. New Year's Day we went to my parents' house for dinner.

Today, I haven't been feeling the greatest. I woke up to horrible stomach pain, that seemed to come out of nowhere and lessened drastically after about an hour. I am still in a little bit of pain, but it is bearable. Today is the last day of my kiddos Christmas vacation from school and my hubby was home from work today as well, so we went on a family walk. So that is why this post is so late getting put up.

Better late than never though to be joining in with the lovely Sandra over at "Diary of a Stay at Home Mom" in her Happy Homemaker Monday meme. So let's get started:

THE WEATHER:::
Today it was cloudy, a little foggy, and what my husband described as crisp. It was in the 40s outside, which is warm for today, but it is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow and they are talking highs in the 20s later in the week.

ON MY READING PILE:::
I just finished reading Two By Two, and I can say that it is the best Nicholas Sparks' book yet. SO GOOD!! I would highly recommend...and make sure you have your box of tissues handy while reading. I am just sayin' ;-)

I am currently reading The Magnolia Story. Both of these books my dear Hubby gifted me for Christmas. I also have several books that I need to read for review, so watch for some book reviews later this month. :-)

ON MY TV:::
The kids have been watching the "Mythbusters" mega-marathon almost all of Christmas break. When that hasn't been on, then football has been on (college bowl games, and NFL games). Right now the Rose Bowl is on between USC and Penn State.

ON THE MENU FOR THIS WEEK:::

MONDAY: Chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes
TUESDAY: Chicken patties and tator tots
WEDNESDAY: Turkey enchiladas and corn
THURSDAY: Hamburger Helper and peas for Bill and the kids; Leftovers for me.
FRIDAY: Homemade mini pizzas and salad
SATURDAY: Macaroni and cheese for the kids, Tex-mex tilapia for Bill and I.
SUNDAY: Pork chop and scalloped potato bake, green beans and rolls

ON MY TO-DO LIST:::
Monday: walk, figure out tutoring stuff, tutoring messages
Tuesday: kids to school, work out to dvd, tutor, Jacob has wrestling, Rebecca has AHG
Wednesday: kids to school, walk, tutor
Thursday: kids to school, tutor, walk, Jacob has wrestling, Rebecca has basketball
Friday: kids to school, walk
Saturday: Rebecca has a basketball game, walk
Sunday: PSR, Church, walk

WHAT I'M CREATING:::
Nothing at the moment. I did color some in my adult coloring book that Bill got me for Christmas if that counts.
LOOKING AROUND THE HOUSE:::
All the Christmas things have been put away. There aren't too many toys out as I had the kids clean up after dinner. Dishes are in the dishwasher, with the crockpot in the sink to soak.
FROM THE CAMERA:::

WHAT I'M WEARING TODAY:::
Today I have on jeans, a blue and white striped tunic from Old Navy and my brown boots.
SIMPLE PLEASURE:::
Hugs from my kids. As I sat down to type this out, all three came over and gave me a group hug. I love hugs from my kids.
DEVOTIONAL OR QUOTE:::

So there you have it. A little peek into my life on this Monday evening. Hope everyone has had a great day and let's see what this week will bring!

  1. Glad you are feeling better. I've been surprised by how many kids seem to be going back to school tomorrow. My boys have an extra day (I do think the teachers go back tomorrow though) and don't start back until Wednesday. Hope you have a great week!

  2. Good Morning, and Happy New Year! Your walk sounds nice, I love family walks. I am going to have to read that Nicolas Sparks book-sounds great. Every time I read one of his books I say this one was the best lol
