Happy Homemaker Monday (2/27/2017)

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was okay. I spent much of Friday in bed because I felt like crap. Stuffy head, etc. I am also battling a depression episode big time that doesn't help at all. I took another long nap yesterday. I just can't seem to get in the groove. Hopefully, I can kick this latest bout, but it is hard to even want to try. It seems like so much work.

For today, I will be joining in with the lovely Sandra over at "Diary of a Stay at Home Mom" in her Happy Homemaker Monday meme. So let's get started:

THE WEATHER:::
Today it is cloudy, and temperatures I believe are going to be in the 50s. Last week, we had record high temps on Friday (with 74 degrees!), thunderstorms Friday night, snow and sleet on Saturday. Yesterday it wasn't too bad out. We are supposed to get more warm weather tomorrow with storms before it gets back to the 30s. Crazy weather.

ON MY READING PILE:::
Nothing

ON MY TV:::

On Friday nights, we typically do pizza and a movie for the kids. This year I would like to try to remember what movies we have watched, so I will be recapping here. This past Friday night, we watched Peter Pan (which I recently acquired cheaply through ebay). The kids liked the movie!

I have Planet Earth II recorded on the DVR.

This week will be a little different TV watching wise as we are doing a media free week for the kids. They haven't been listening and have been getting into trouble more, and I am wondering if it is because of too much TV, so we are going to go screen free for them during the week this week to see if that helps.

ON THE MENU FOR THIS WEEK:::
MONDAY: lasagna
TUESDAY:
WEDNESDAY:
THURSDAY:
FRIDAY:
SATURDAY:
SUNDAY:
I have no idea what I am making this week.

ON MY TO-DO LIST FOR THIS WEEK:::
Monday: Ben speech, tutor, trash and recycling to curb
Tuesday: kids to school, Aldi's grocery store
Wednesday: kids to school, tutor, Lent begins
Thursday: kids to school, tutor
Friday: kids to school, tutor
Saturday: Tea Party for Rebecca's AHG troop
Sunday: PSR, church,
And each day has the daily housework that needs to be done.

LOOKING AROUND THE HOUSE:::
It isn't too bad. There are toys out (both cat and kid toys!), but it isn't too bad.

FROM THE CAMERA:::
Yesterday was Rebecca's awards ceremony for her Upwards Basketball season. I took her to McDonald's after for dinner. (Her brothers had to stay home because they were in trouble). She even got to have a hot fudge sundae!

WHAT I'M WEARING TODAY:::
I have on jeans, a red sweater and brown boots.

SIMPLE PLEASURE:::
Taking naps.

DEVOTIONAL OR QUOTE:::

So there you have it. A little peek into my life on this Monday. Hope everyone has had a great day and let's see what this week will bring!

  1. Good for you to implement a screen-free week. I enjoyed reading your post and I had to catch up with some of your other blog posts - I hope Gus Gus and Gronk take care of those pesky mice. We had one in our kitchen years ago - I didn't see it but it left evidence that it had been there overnight (yeuch!). Turned out we had a tiny gap in the siding of our house in the kitchen - the pest control guy said a mouse can squeeze itself into the tiniest space and that's what it had done. The pest control company has some sort of box-like trap where the mouse goes in, eats whatever is in there, and then goes out again - I think they go in search of water and then die. So hopefully, they die away from your house! With the trap and plugging the gap, we never had a problem again.

  2. Peter Pan is such a great movie! Have never watched Planet Earth. Will look into it. Sorry to hear that you're struggling with depression. Hopefully there will be some bright spots this week that help you a bit. Resting and taking care of yourself is good. I'm glad to see that you are doing that.

  3. I tried the chicken parmesan recipe you posted a while back and it was great! Thanks! We eat a ton of chicken (no beef or pork) so I am always on the lookout for new recipes!

  4. Oh the pesky mice, with living out in the country it is a constant battle for us. Enjoyed reading your post, and love your girl's pic, she looks so happy :)

    Have a great week!

  5. Hope you are feeling better, both physically and emotionally, today. Can't go wrong with a hot fudge sundae from McDonald's (although a caramel one would be my choice). Good luck with the screen free week, I bet that will help everyone. Hope you have a great week!
