Happy Sunday Monday everyone from chilly, rainy, gloomy Ohio. I started this yesterday and then got interrupted and so I am back today to finish. I really meant to post a life update last week, but I got sick. I am still not feeling well, but I have a free moment so thought I would do a proper post.
This past week has been a blur. Some very, very negative things happened at work and I came down with COVID?/ FLU?/ Something. (I took 3 COVID tests. On the first one there was a couple of dots in the positive area, on the others nothing... Doc doesn't seem to think its COVID but man I have all the symptoms). Saturday I was diagnosed with an ear infection that is causing me to be a little off balance. I have been exhausted beyond measure. It really has not been fun.
But life has been moving on. Let's do a quick recap...
- Football season came to an end. Jacob enjoyed playing for the 8th grade school team, even though they ended up losing every game. It was an experience. He cried after the last game, but said he wants to try out for Freshman football next year. He loved playing and being part of the team and that is all that matters to me.
- Ben played flag colt football this year and also loved it. He had a great coach (who actually coached Rebecca in softball many years ago) who encouraged him and Ben learned a lot. His team made it to the championship game, but came up short coming in 2nd place out of 5 teams. He is now telling me that next fall he wants to run cross country.
- Rebecca continues to work hard at school. She is a junior this year and is taking all AP and college level courses except for her art class. She is still doing all the choir things, as she wants to go into music education for a career. She has been taking voice lessons and was chosen to be a part of the OMEA District 10 Honors Choir next week. Later in November, she will also travel to Bowling Green State University to participate in a chorale festival that she auditioned for and made. I am super proud of her achievements with her passion.
- All 3 kiddos had their first choir concerts of the year. Rebecca and the high school choirs had a joint concert with different choral groups from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. It was a really nice concert and Rebecca got a lot of compliments.
- The boys had their fall middle school concert. They both did an amazing job. Ben was super nervous as this was his first choir concert but he did great and he was all smiles singing!
- I went apple picking with my parents, sister, sister in law, and niece and nephew. It was a good day mostly. The boys were with their dad. Rebecca was home doing homework. It was weird not going with the kids but it is time to make new traditions and to expand what is normal.
- Some traditions stay the same though, as my parents hosted their annual Fall festival for the grandkids and kids. Unfortunately this year it was raining, so that dampened some of the activities but fun was had by all. We all dressed up in costume this year and that was fun, as I can't remember the last time that I dressed up in costume. We did bobbing for apples, had some yummy food, carved pumpkins. The kids had a blast.
- Rebecca had her junior year homecoming dance. She went with a few of her closest friends. We took pictures beforehand at a local park, then I took them all to Wendy's for dinner, and then we went to visit one of the kiddos moms who was home from the hospital (after having to have her foot amputated due to diabetes infection issues.) She had a blast.
- Like I said work has become a nightmare. My assistant quit last week. I am looking for something else. Another lead teacher is job hunting. I might do a proper post next week, but lets just say that for my own sanity I need out.
- Other than that life is moving on. The boys continue to fight with each other daily. The separation/divorce is still so hard. I still have no regrets, but it is so hard with everything else going on. I feel like I am not being a good enough mom to the kids even though I am trying my best. Life is just hard.
