Books read

Happy last day of May! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I can't believe May is over. My kids are out of school for the summer and I am just feeling restless. I haven't even been able to get into a routine yet and that is throwing me off. One thing that I have done is finally I have gotten back into reading for pleasure. One of the things that I have gotten away from is not taking time to do the things I enjoy to relax and that I like to do. Reading is one of those things. I have decided to start making a list of all the books that I have read each month so that maybe someone else can see what books are out there, and it just keeps me accountable. This month's list is going to include all the books I have read so far this year. These books are:

This book was okay. ★★★☆☆
Good read, but very predictable Colleen Hoover. ★★★☆☆

I felt this book was okay. Got really repetitive, but overall was an okay read. ★★★☆☆

WOW! Loved this book. Very powerful. ★★★★★

Very enlightening. ★★★★☆

Easy summer read. ★★★★☆

This was really good. ★★★★★

Have you read any good books lately? Care to give a recommendation?

  1. I just finished James, a retelling of the Huck Finn story from the perspective of Jim. It won the Pulitzer Prize. Excellent book.

  2. I checked out two Anna Quindlen novels last week: “After Annie” and “Alternative Sides.” I found them to be compelling and quick reads. I am not sure how I missed this author, but I will be reading more of her work.
It is odd, though, that once a voracious reader, I feel I now have to force myself to sit and read. It’s as if I lost my way. I like the version of myself who reads for pleasure. It’s like visiting with an old friend!

    1. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "I like the version of myself who reads for pleasure." That is what I am trying to get back to, the versions of myself that make me happy. I will have to add Anna Quindlen to my list of authors to check out at the library on my next visit.

  3. I just finished How to Solve Your Own Murder - very fun and fast read. Nothing gruesome. I like mysteries. So, I've listened to the first in Poppy Harmon mystery series and am now on the second. Those are also fast and fun and good for women of a certain age. ;) (I'm 56). Earlier this year I read The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose. I loved the first Molly the Maid book and this one did not disappoint!
