There is a virus raging out in the world. The divide over even the most minute details about reopening versus not reopening are becoming deeper and deeper. Things are going from bad to worst. The news and social media are all doom and gloom. Today I wke up not feeling well with some stomach pains and just feeling blah overall. I can continue to focus on the negative or I can try to refocus and focus on the positive and things to be thankful for- thus this post.
So today I am thankful for 2 big things in particular! One is beautiful sunshine and nice hiking with the family! The other is modern medicine and doctors who care.
First I am thankful for sunshine and nice hiking times with the family. Today it is raining out but yesterday the weather was BEAUTIFUL! It was ☀🌞☀🌞 and just the right temperature (66 degrees) with just a slight breeze every so often. Just perfect for taking a hike at the Brown Family Environmental Center. We say tons of birds, lots of tadpoles, our first frogs of the year, and lots of beautiful scenery.
Also, today I am thankful for modern medicine. Exactly one year ago today, Benjamin was admitted to Children's Hospital with swelling and extremely high blood pressures. Thankfully the nephrology department at Children's was wonderful in trying to figure out what was going on. When Ben was released from the hospital, he was on three different blood pressure medicines and we had to take his blood pressures twice a day at home. His nephrologist was hopeful that we could wean him off the medicines in 2-3 months after he was released. Well, Ben's blood pressures decided not to cooperate and we are still on medicine a year later (now he is on one 2ml dose of one medicine a day) and daily blood pressure monitoring. However, this morning after talking with the doctor, we are to stop his medicines all together and monitor his blood pressure for the next month as his readings have been in the normal range for the past month!
