Board of DD walk: "Imagine the Possibilities"

Last Saturday, the kids and I took part in our local Board of Developmental Disabilities 2nd annual 5K and 1 mile walk benefitting our local Board of DD. I signed the kids and I up for the 1 mile walk as a way to give back to the community and to raise awareness. The Board of DD has helped us in a lot of ways with Ben and with Jacob in giving advice on where to get diagnoses, programs in our community that would benefit the boys, and just being there when I feel overwhelmed.

The kids and I had a blast. It was a great experience seeing all these walkers who society may look down on because they have down syndrome, or they have some other developmental disability that may interfere with some parts of their lives. They were walking, laughing, and having a great time.

I was so proud of Rebecca as well, because the walk was scheduled for 9am. She chose to miss her softball game and her softball pictures and team picutre because we had already committed to the walk. She is a very concietious little girl and I am so proud of her and of her brothers for walking the whole mile with no complaining!

It was a great day to be had by the kids and I, raising awareness for one of our community resources!
