U-EartH Color Run 2017

This past weekend, I headed up to the Cleveland Ohio area with my mom and sister to take part in the U-EartH 2017 Art Therapy Studio Color Run, Walk and Roll race on Sunday morning.

My sister is a senior undergraduate at Ursuline College in their Art therapy program. She is also the President of U-EartH. So I had to show her some support AND I got to get away with my mom and sister for a girls' weekend--something we have never done before. U-Earth or Ursuline Endless art Healing (U-EartH) is a group of Ursuline College students dedicated to helping out the community through art.

We headed up to Pepper Pike on Saturday afternoon. We had some running around to do, so that Mary could get some gifts for her new girlfriend ( who was coming up later that night) for Sweetest Day. We also had to pick up her car from the shop.

After dropping stuff off at her dorm, we headed out to find some dinner. That was an adventure as the restaurant Mary wanted to go to was closed unexpectedly (we weren't the only people that were surprised when we got there.) Every other restaurant in the area was jammed pack. So we decided to head back towards campus and to go to "The Winking Lizard Tavern." (This was the same restaurant we took my sister to when we visited earlier in the year, so it is now a tradition to go!)

Food was good. I had a jerk chicken sandwich. It was really good. After we left the restaurant, we dropped my sister off at her dorm and we headed to the hotel.

Once at the hotel, we had to get warm as the room was freezing when we walked in. They had the air conditioner on and it was turned as low as it could go! We immediately turned the heat on! We decided to forgo the pool as there were hockey teams staying in the hotel and so tons of kids in the pool. There was a running joke all weekend that my sister was calling us old. Well, if old is lights out around 10:45 then I guess we are old! LOL

We were up early the next morning to head out to Ursuline's campus for check-in for the race and to see if my sister needed any help (which she didn't). After checking in we headed out to McDonald's to grab some breakfast and then back to campus.

The race was supposed to start at 10, but didn't kick off until 10:30. My mom, who has heart problems, only did a small portion of the course with me. I did the whole course (walking it). The course was all around the campus, so it was a very pretty walk.

After the race was done, we went onto the quad for the little art festival they were having.

My sister wanted to paint my face so I let her. You only live once right? LOL

After everything was wrapped up around 2, we decided to head out and get something to eat before mom and I had to head home. Mary suggested we go to Piada which she described as a "Chipotle but with pasta." I was pretty skeptical as I don't like Chipotle but we knew it would make Mary happy to go there so we did. Their food was really good. I got a diavolo pasta, which had some heat to it but was yummy.

Then we headed over to a cupcake place that didn't have much to offer. So we decided to head over to Menchie's Frozen Yogurt for dessert. It was super yummy! I had cheesecake frozen yogurt and Nutella frozen yogurt, topped with fresh strawberries, maraschino cherries, chocolate chips, and cheesecake pieces. It was super yummy!

Then it was time to say goodbye to my sister and drop her back off at her dorm. Then my mom and I headed back to Mount Vernon.

It was a fun, relaxing weekend. I love spending time with my mom and sister. We are talking about making this a tradition... so we can continue our escapades!

  2. If you're old I must be ancient lol! I go to bed around 9:30pm most nights. I love the selfie of you and your mom in the hotel room. What a wonderful weekend - I hope it does become an annual event!
