Cheap apples, free chocolate, more meds, and Spongebob

The kids have had the last 2 days off of school due to parent teacher conferences and that has been good as we have been all fighting colds. With no school, we haven't had to rely on someone else's schedule and we can just relax and rest when needed. Well the kids and I can. Bill has been pulling long hours at work due to fall tournaments. I am so blessed to have a husband who works so hard for our family.

The kids and I have just been puttering around, watching lots of TV, playing games, coloring and just chilling. I have done a couple loads of laundry yesterday and today and have read some of my book to review and just did stuff when I felt like it. Jacob is feeling a little better today. He did come in at 5:30 this morning and said he didn't feel good. I gave him more motrin and sent him back to bed. He has been acting kind of back to normal tonight, so hopefully his antibiotic is finally kicking in.

What else has been going on today? Well...

I had to go to the store to get some more medicine and tissues, and while I was there I was able to get Rebecca some of her favorite apples-- Honeycrisp! Kroger was running a 2 day surprise sale and 3lbs of honeycrisp apples were on sale for $1.88 a bag. Yes please! I bought 2, as normally honeycrisp apples run around $1.88 a pound around here and my kids eat fruit like it is candy.

Also, while I was there I picked up my free chocolate that I had loaded onto my shopper's card! Love their free Friday product coupons that they offer.

I also went to Walmart, as I have been taking Mucinex and Bill started taking it last night as he is getting the same cold symptoms that I have. I looked at Kroger for it and it was $4 more expensive there than at Walmart so I headed to Walmart to get it. I also needed to get dye-free tylenol for the kids and Kroger was all out. I have to buy dye-free as Rebecca is allergic to red dye #40 which is in most kids meds. Thankfully, I was able to find it at Walmart.

Tonight was an easy dinner for the kiddos-- pizza rolls and grapes! One of the best decisions I have ever made was to make Friday night pizza night. It is easy and perfect for when I am tired at the end of the week.

After dinner, I will have the kids clean up and then we will watch a movie. We also traditionally do Friday night kids movie night. Tonight's movie of choice is: "Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water." Not necessarily my cup of tea, but all the kids agreed on it, so it is a go. We own the dvd so it is all good.

Overall, it was a calm, relaxing day today. Hopefully that will continue and hopefully this cold that I have and the ones that Jacob, Bill and Ben have will all be on their way soon!

    1. I hope so. Jacob seems to be much better today. Hopefully Rebecca doesn't get it. My head is killing me today but what are you going to do? I'm mom. I don't get a sick day. Off to take more meds. :)

  3. I like your new fall header photos:) Honeycrisp are my favourite apples and they are always more expensive than the other brands, oh well. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things to get everyone well once again.

    1. Thanks Jane. I hope we are. Jacob seems better today. I am still miserable in the head but trying to not let it completely bother me.
