What has been going on?

First of all, thanks for the words of encouragement on my last post about starting Jacob on medication for his ADHD. It was not a decision that we took lightly and is one that we are confident is the right choice for him for right now.

In other news, man oh man, life is crazy around here and going a million miles an hour. I just feel behind in everything and each day it is just enough to get through the day. I have been bad at updating the blog as I would like so decided to do a this and that type post tonight to catch up a little and to share what has been going on. So let's see....

I AM SO GLAD WE RENT-
Last week, we had 2 issues that needed addressing. First I went to do laundry one day and went down and there was water on the basement floor and water leaking from one of the input tubes going into the top of our hot water tank. Thankfully, the landlord sent his son out and he was able to fix it!

The next day, I went down to do more laundry and I heard water running and our boiler was leaking water all over the floor. Apparently a valve had been moved when he was fixing the hot water tank and the pressure built up to quickly and cause the emergency valve to pop and release water so the boiler wouldn't blow up. Again, so thankful our landlord came right out to fix it!

BILL ALMOST HAD TO GO THE EMERGENCY ROOM-
Bill was out covering a college signing and he began to feel lightheaded. Well, the kids' parents and grandmother are all medical professionals (a retired nurse, a RN, and an EMT) and they took care of him. Long story short, his blood sugar was extremely low (causing him to feel dizzy and faint) and his blood pressure was extremely high. They got his blood sugar stabilized after he drank 2 Gatorades but couldn't get his blood pressure down so they called the squad. The squad did an EKG which came back normal. They told Bill they could transport him to the hospital or they would stand there while he called his doctor to get in to the doctor that day (this is small town we are talking about). So he got into his doctor and his doctor said they didn't know why his blood pressure was high but put him on meds. We think that it is because Bill has gained 15 pounds since he was last at the doctor and that he isn't getting enough sleep as his work schedule is insane. He is only getting between 3-5 hours of sleep a night and he is exhausted all the time.

I HAVE STILL BEEN DECLUTTERING-

I have still been working on our master bedroom. I just haven't had time to do a proper decluttering post. Hopefully I will have one next Friday! I will say that today I took 2 huge boxes, a wrapping paper/trash can container full of crap stuff and 3 large trash bags full of clothes to Goodwill from our bedroom.

WE'VE TRIED TO BE OUTSIDE-
The weather here, like most of the country, has been wacky. Wednesday we were under a wind advisory most of the day as the wind was whipping around at 50+ mph. It was driving the cats nuts as they were watching the leaves swirl outside. Gronk sat for over an hour watching the leaves out one of our back windows.

Thursday the temperatures were in the 60s and it was sunny and warm. I actually took a tutoring client to the park to work on spelling words outside as it was so nice. Friday morning, we woke up to 2 inches of snow on the ground but the sun soon came out. It didn't warm up, but it did melt the snow where the sun shone. We decided to take the kids for a walk and ended up going to part of the Kokosing Path at Kenyon College. It was a brisk cold walk, but felt good to be outside.

THE CATS ARE NUTS-

The cats have definitely made themselves at home. They have also decided on somewhat of a schedule. They tend to come upstairs and are in our room between 430-5 AM. Then they leave and come back up when they hear one of us up and moving around for the day (around 6-630).  They spend the morning playing with toys, wrestling with each other, and being nuts. They love to sleep in our bedroom during the afternoon. Then in the evening, they play with their toys (usually after Rebecca gets them out from underneath shelves, etc.) and chase each other and are nuts. They really have become a part of the family and are crazy just like everyone else in our house.

So we have just been getting on and getting through each day and collapsing in bed at night and getting up and doing it all over again. Life is crazy busy and just plain crazy. But it is what it is and all we can do is take it one day at a time!

  1. Hope your husband gets this stabilized. I know it was scary for both of you.
You have 3 little people living with you, so life is just going to be chaotic for a while. Just learn to embrace the chaos because those days will be gone in the blink of an eye.
Did you read "Stranger in a Strange land to get Gronk's name?

    1. Actually Gronk's name is in reference to one of my kids' favorite NFL players Rob Gronkowski who plays for the Patriots and is nicknamed Gronk. :-)

    1. The medicine seems to be helping. Today it was back down to normal for him. Definitely not a thing that we are taking lightly.

  3. Sorry that your DH's health has been suffering. Agree, proper sleep makes such a difference. Is he able to make any changes to ensure that he at least can get 6-7 hours solid every night? Is he skipping meals? does he keep some protein snacks in the car/desk for when he is on the run? Feeling lousy all the time is no fun. : (

    1. His diet is definitely lacking and he does have a habit of not eating breakfast. Hopefully this will change. He is trying to get more sleep but also makes excuses why he can't.

  4. Goodness! I had a lot of catching up to do on your blog as I must have missed the post about adopting those adorable kitties! That's so wonderful that you gave a home to both of them. I hope they bring you years of love and furry joy. So scary what happened to your hubby. Thank goodness he had people around him to help. Life gets so busy at times that the last thing we do is take care of ourselves. Then something like that happens and we realize we have to slow down a little. Happy to hear that Jacob's meds are helping him too. You all are an awesome family!

  5. Your cats look similar to mine :) who are both snoozing with me as I write. Hope things get sorted out with Bill's high blood pressure. Work stress can affect the body in so many nasty ways.

    1. Gronk is our snuggler. Gus Gus doesn't like to snuggle. However, he loves to be in the same room as you are.
