Ice Cream and the Children's Garden

source

I am determined to make this Summer a good one for the kids even with all the stress going on. I have decided that this will be a good summer and I will focus on the positives.

The day after the last day of school, I took the kids to meet up with a couple of Rebecca's friends at the Round Hill Dairy for ice cream. The kids had fun and it was good ice cream!

On Friday, I packed up a picnic lunch of PB&Js and we headed over to the Children's Garden to have lunch and explore. Our local career center students have been remodeling the garden for the past year and they recently reopened it to the public. I wanted to see what the changes were as we have enjoyed the garden in the past.

We had our lunch first at one of the picnic tables. We enjoyed a lunch of PB&Js, carrots, strawberries, chips and our water bottles.

They made some changes and left some things the same. They left the "Giant" garden area complete with a HUGE chair...

They took out the pond, but added a little fountain. (This was the one change that disappointed me. It is really underwhelming.)

They kept the little train and train station, but also added an airplane that the kids can climb on.

They took out the boat and lighthouse area, but added a tee-pee and a stream.

They added more grassy areas for the kids to run in.

The kids found the sand box under the gazebo and loved playing in there. They built a dinosaur city complete with 2 volcanoes, and a dinosaur family.

We also had fun taking some silly pictures....

It was slightly different, but somewhat the same. It was a fun place to spend some time and the best part was that the kids had a lot of fun.  We will definitely be coming back at least a few times over the Summer. Ice cream and fun out at the Children's Garden was a great way to kick off Summer 2018!

  1. Your little outings looked like so much fun! And, what a way to start off the summer for them! I am slightly jealous as school isn't over here until June 21st - blame the snow days and the wicked May storm that took out power but such is life in New England. =)

    1. Yikes. I would hate to have the kids in school until then. Although we also go back early (August 16)….
