Schnormeier Gardens as a Mother/Daughter outing

This morning after running a few errands, I took Rebecca out on a mommy/daughter outing to the Schnormeier Gardens in Gambier. The Schnormeier Gardens are a private residence which the owners open to the public once a year (usually for a weekend.) They have 75 acres of Asian inspired gardens complete with nature trails, sculptures, etc. We have never gone and as much as I have enjoyed the serenity of nature I thought this would be a neat outing. Bill showed no interest in going and the boys didn't want to go either, so when I suggested to Rebecca that we go as a mother/daughter outing she jumped at the chance.

It was a wonderful experience--- very peaceful and serene. The gardens are lovely and spacious. There was a lot of people there, however due to the spacing it never seemed crowded at all.

The natural elements throughout the gardens were breathtaking!

The sculptures and Asian inspired fixtures throughout the gardens added to the interest.

It was a lovely way to spend some time with Rebecca and enjoy the serenity and peace of nature. She has already said she wants to go back next year when they are open to the public.

After we left, we stopped and got Bill and the boys food from McDonalds. As we were leaving the Gardens, she asked me to call her dad and see if they had eaten lunch. When I told her that we were going to take the food home, I looked back and she was crying because she really wanted to have a mommy/daughter lunch. So after dropping the food off to Bill and the boys we headed back out to McDonald's for a mommy/daughter lunch to top off our day. It was a lovely way to spend time with Rebecca!

  1. Beautiful gardens. Looks so peaceful. How great that you were able to have a date with just your daughter doing something you both wanted to do.
