Hearts Entwined: A Historical Romance Novella Collection

Hearts Entwined

FROM THE BACK COVER:::
The ways of love can be complex. Sometimes a relationship full of unexpected twists and unlikely turns leads to a bond that's strong and secure. Join Karen Witemeyer, Mary Connealy, Regina Jennings, and Melissa Jagears for novellas that follow the winding path of romance in stories that celebrate a love that lasts forever.

The Love KnotWhen Claire Nevin's troubled younger sibling sends her an unexpected package by rail, the gift and the man who delivers it--an unexpected face from the past--threaten to upend Claire's life forever. Fighting to hold on to all she has built, will she lose what matters most?

The Tangled Ties That BindConnor Kincaid returns home determined to win the hand of the woman he was too young for when he left. But Maggie is training to be a doctor in a distant town, while Connor's about to settle on a ranch. Will either be willing to give up their dream? Or will they both have to give up the love of a lifetime?

Bound and DeterminedAs punishment for his recklessness, Private Bradley Willis is sent on an errand to help a retired cavalry officer move a herd across Indian Territory. No one told him the herd would be camels instead of cattle, nor that the officer's headstrong daughter, Ambrosia Herald, would seem to be trying to undermine the whole enterprise. He's definitely been saddled with more than he's bargained for.

Tied and TrueWealthy Marianne Lister is in love with business assistant Calvin Hochstetler, but he can't see past the difference in their social status. When Marianne takes a job to prove that she is prepared for a life of hard work alongside the man of her dreams, will it be enough to convince Calvin to risk it all for love?

MY THOUGHTS:::

Hearts Entwined contains 4 romances that will delight the readers. I was familiar with 2 of the authors (Karen Witemeyer and Regina Jennings) before I read this book, and now I will have to find more writings of the the other 2 as well. I truly enjoyed 3 of these short and sweet stories; the 4th just left a little something to be desired.

"The Love Knot" by Karen Witemeyer was probably my favorite out of the four novellas. I loved reading about Claire and Pieter's relationship and how they are able to overcome past judgements, a sickness and will endure and thrive.

"The Tangled Ties that Bind" by Mary Connealy had me laughing out loud at her descriptions of the ranch lifestyle. She was very descriptive in her writing and made me feel like I was right there with Connor and Maggie as they were being chased by the buffalo and when they were in the doctor's office treating the patients from the coach wreck. This was a wonderful story.

"Bound and Determined" by Regina Jennings was another delightful lead. I am not sure what I would have done if I was faced with having to travel in the old west on camels. It was a funny read and loved the way that 2 headstrong people, in Ambrosia and Bradley, face off and ultimately fall headfirst in love with each other.

"Tied and True" by Melissa Jagears finishes off this collection of stories. This one was the only one that didn't bat 1000 for me. This is a typical story of rich and poor falling in love (although I will give Jagears credit this time it is a rich woman falling in love with a poor man). There was just something about the character of Marianne that was annoying to me. I am not sure why and can't really pinpoint it, but it really made the whole story feel off for me.

Overall, I loved the format of this book. I was able to read through each story in a sitting over the course of 4 days. I did this to savor each one and to think about them. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for short, sweet historical romances with some wittiness thrown in!
