I have a date for surgery

Source

So I met with my doctor yesterday morning for a pre-op appointment. Basically to sign final paperwork and to get this soap solution I have to use the night before and the morning of my surgery. He also confirmed that the plan is to take everything except my ovaries, unless he gets in there and sees something wrong with one or both ovaries. He also confirmed that I have a surgery date.

My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday, August 23.

I have conflicting feelings about this. I will be glad to have the medical issues done. But I am also scared big time.

I guess for now I am just glad to have a date.

  1. I must have missed stuff while I was in Maine.
I am sure you'll be fine. Take extra Vitamin C the day before you go in for the procedure to help in quicker healing.

It will be a big relief not to be in pain any longer from your condition.

    1. To make a long story short... I ended up in the ER 2 weeks ago with heavy bleeding and abdominal cramps. Diagnosis a HUGE fibroid causing it all and anemia on top of it. Now on to surgery next week to get rid of it as that was my only option.

Thanks for the advice! And yes it will be a HUGE relief!

  2. I am so glad that you got a surgery date. I don't blame you for being scared but it is something that needs to be done. I had my tubes tied and I was scared too but glad that I did it.
    Hugs!!!

  3. I'm sure they cautioned you to be off certain RX and any aspirin products, if in doubt, please call them! You'll be glad when this is behind you. Do what you can to ease the recovery period (the grocery top up we recently discussed), line up any transportation needs for you/kids as you recoup. Sending good vibes!

    1. I talked to the doc about that when I saw him this week. The only thing I am on right now is the iron pills. My plans for this weekend is to try to get last minute stuff done. Thanks for the good vibes!

  5. Just keep saying "This is a good thing. This is a good thing" I know all will go well and you will be back up and about after a brief recovery!

    1. I am saying that, believe me! I am hoping recovery goes well-- Doc says it is a 6 week recovery before I can go back to work.

  6. I'll definitely send some good vibes your way on the 23rd! And, I agree with the other commenters...Plan as much as you can now before the surgery to make recovery a bit easier, accept help when it is given during recovery time, and REST! Sending hugs your way!!

  7. I had a complete hysterectomy done in February. I was just in shock the day of surgery because there was almost a 100% chance there was cancer. There was cancer, but nothing bad at the stage he caught it. Read my TMI post for good exercise after uterus removal. Try not to worry too much. I did this with no friends or family, so your situation may be better.

    1. I will definitely go back and read your posts. I am trying not to worry, but it is hard. I have had people say that they will help, but we shall see.

  8. Being able to rest after surgery is very important. As TrayceeBee said, accept help when it's offered. You'll be fine as long as you don't push yourself. This is the time to allow yourself to be selfish. :-)

    1. I am hoping to be able to rest. My husband has turned into a general and has forced me to rest now and I know he will be worse after surgery. LOL
