Back to Reality

We had a good weekend. Watched football on Saturday and the Patriots lost which made my hubby happy! Yesterday, we decided at the last minute to go out to my parents house to spend some time with my sister and brother before they head back to their respective colleges this week. We only saw them one other time over Christmas break as we have been fighting illness here at our house and didn't want to spread the germs around. We spent much of yesterday afternoon and evening over there hanging out. My dad ordered pizza and subs for dinner so I didn't have to come home and cook. It was a nice way to end Christmas break for the kids.

And now it is time to say hello to Monday! Time to get back to reality. Today is the first day back to school for the kiddos and time for me to get back into a routine. I will admit that I am not ready. I hated hearing that alarm clock this morning! Having the last 2 weeks off has been nice and I am not really looking forward to babysitting or tutoring this week. Maybe because I took the break I don't know. I am going to keep an eye out for how I feel as the next couple weeks progresses as it may be time for me to change things up and maybe look for different avenues for making money to help the family.

Anyways back to today. I was perusing blogs last night and I came across one that I thought looked interesting and that I had heard good things about. It is the Confident Mom and I noticed that she is offering a download of her yearly planner for free. I downloaded it and fell in love with it. She has small tasks to be completed each day to help clean your home and keep it clean and organized. I decided that this year I am going to try out her system. Instead of printing out each page, I have a planner that I use and I am copying her ideas (along with a few of my own) onto each day and that is my to do list.
My planner this week

I completed my tasks for today in less than an hour. Feels good to get some jobs that typically take a backseat done. :) One of the jobs I did today was dust the ceiling fans in our living room and dining room. I have been meaning to do it for weeks but never got around to it. It literally took me less than 7 minutes to do all 3 of them.

Before-- GROSS!

After-- MUCH better!

As for the rest of today--- I have to babysit A (in fact she will be here any minute) so I need to wrap this up. I also tutor this afternoon AND the boys have basketball practice. Back to being busy and back to reality!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

  1. My fans look a whole lot worse than that. With vaulted ceiling,s unless I get up on a ladder, I always seem to miss the same parts.

    1. My parents have cathedral ceilings in their family room and that ceiling fan gets dusted about once a year-- when my dad gets his extension ladder out. LOL

  2. I hate that edge of dust that looks like a giant caterpillar! You can get rid of that by reversing the blades. Of course, the small caterpillars it breaks up into fall all over everything. I would forget they were so dirty.

    1. Yeah, it will be nice to NOT hear all about the Patriots in the post season-- although we will have to listen to is Brady coming back? Will Belichick be back? Personally, I am rooting for the Packers. Will be interesting in our house this weekend as the Packers play Jacob's favorite team the Seahawks! LOL

  5. Like a lot of things in life, there is a risk involved with investing in the stock market. However, if you first invest your time in educating yourself about stock investments, you can minimize that risk. satta king

  6. The best way to spread mulch on your organic garden is with a flat-headed rake. A flat-headed rake is effectively two tools in one. You can use the tined side to distribute mulch over fresh areas. When you flip the rake over, its flat side makes an efficient tool for smoothing your mulch and making sure it is distributed evenly.
