Ben made his First Communion!

Thankfully after the storminess on Wednesday/Thursday, the weather this weekend was great! Saturday it was chilly and we had showers off and on in the morning. Sunday it was a high of 70, low humidity and sunshine! PERFECT weather, which was good because we had a busy weekend.

Saturday morning, Ben and I were up early as he had First Communion practice to attend. (He was originally supposed to make his First Communion back in the beginning of May, but due to the church closing due to the coronavirus, that didn't happened. We found out a week ago that it was being scheduled for yesterday!) They said practice would last 1-1.5 hours; it last 25 minutes. LOL Part of that was that there were only 16 kids and part of that was with all the new rules for social distancing at mass, it was a much simpler format and easier to run through. After practice, Ben and I went to Dollar Tree to pick up plates and napkins for the small party we were having yesterday. When we got home, we picked up Rebecca and Jacob and we all headed out to Goodwill and Walmart to see if we could find Rebecca a dress to wear. We found 2 at Goodwill (and they were both 50% off, so each was only $2.49!). At Walmart, we found her a cute pair of sandals to wear with the dress, as well as a nice pair of shorts and shirt for Jacob to wear to church. Then we came home to clean house and I needed to bake a cake. In the evening, I went to Aldi and Kroger to get groceries for our party and then decorated the cake for Sunday.

Sunday morning, I did finishing touches on cleaning the house (like cleaning the downstairs bathroom) and make up food trays for the party. I made up a meat and cheese tray for sandwiches, veggie tray, and a batch of coleslaw. Rebecca made up a fruit dish with grapes, strawberries and blueberries.

After lunch it was time to get dressed and head over to our church for First Communion for Ben. We took a few pictures before mass outside as we knew that after mass, many people would want to have pictures.

It was a lovely mass (the first mass I have attended since the COVID-19 stuff shut everything down. Our church has been back to having in-person mass for 3 weeks but I can't get over the social distancing rules and the masks). It was different due to the new rules and the need for masks, but still a very beautiful day for Benjamin. My dad was also able to come to mass too which was special.

After mass, we took pictures outside of church.

Then it was back home to get ready for a small party. Ben was happy with the people that came over including close friends of ours. We all had a lovely time chit-chatting and catching up with each other.

Overall, Ben had a wonderful day! (And it was a good weekend. It almost felt like life was back to a little bit of normal.)

Today, it is back to being a Monday. It is supposed to be the coolest day of the week and I kind of want some pasta so I am thinking that I am going to make a pasta bake for dinner tonight. I turned water on to boil so I should go see if it is ready.

How was your weekend? Anyone have any fun plans this week?
