Sorry for the blog silence. A stomach bug has taken up residence in our house. Be back later when we are healthy.

Menu Plan #8 of 2023 and cleaning

Happy Monday evening everyone! I meant to get this up this morning, but life happened and so here we are. Today, being President's Day, the kids and I were off school/work so I wanted to get some stuff done around the house. (Actually I started yesterday by deep cleaning the boys' room.) And I have been puttering around all day getting things done. I am tired now, but still wanted to get this posted.

This weekend ended up being super busy with organizing and cleaning. I already posted about how I got my seasonal decorations into totes. Well, on Sunday I had reached my last nerve with the boys NOT cleaning their room, so I went in and deep cleaned it. I took out a lot of their toys, books, etc. I only left their Legos, wrestlers, Battlebots and sports cards. It only took me 4.5+ hours to clean it. I was DONE. They have been warned that if they don't maintain it, then they will lose whatever they don't clean up and I may or may not donate it.

Today, Rebecca has been working all day on her room, as I told her that she has until tonight to have it cleaned or I would do to her room what I did to the boys' room. The last time I checked on her it was looking pretty good. I have also been working on mountains of laundry. How we got so behind on laundry is beyond me. I also baked pumpkin bread for breakfasts this week, and a brownie. I went to the grocery store as well. Needless to say, I am exhausted.

Since I am exhausted, why don't we get on to the menu plan.

So how did we do with last week's menu plan?

Monday: Hamburger Helper and peas for Bill and the kids. I will eat something else. I ended up having avocado toast with eggs.

Tuesday: I might do taco crescent ring. I will see what Bill wants to have for Valentine's Day. I ended up making Bill's favorite.. chicken enchiladas, salad and peanut butter pie.

Wednesday: Air Fryer Chicken and Broccoli, Rice and veggies

Thursday: Pulled pork sandwiches, Cole slaw, veggies of some sort, macaroni and cheese, cucumbers

Friday: Pizza with lots of meat on it (this is the last Friday before Lent starts). We ordered Dominoes as we had a slice the price card, that gives you a free large pizza with the purchase of another large pizza with no limits.

Saturday: Hot dogs, baked beans, chips

Sunday:  Spaghetti and garlic bread

What are we eating this week?

Monday: Tikka Masala, Rice and Naan

Tuesday:  I have no idea. We are running in 50 million directions around dinner time, so who knows what we will have.

Wednesday: Grilled Cheese or Tuna Salad Sandwiches, Cucumbers, Apple slices, Chips

Thursday: Red Bag Chicken Sandwiches and Fries

Friday: Cheese pizza and Fruit

Saturday: ???

Sunday: ???

This and That

Happy Saturday everyone! Just thought I'd pop on here to give some quick thoughts today.

First, Ohio weather is stupid. Wednesday it was 70 degrees and Sunny. Thursday, we had rain showers and thunderstorms. Yesterday, it was in the upper 20s and snowing! It didn't stick but still Ohio weather is stupid. Today it is 40 and sunny. It is like what they say... "Wait 5 minutes and the weather will change."

Second, Rebecca has some artwork displayed at school in one of their display cases. She is one of the 4 editors (chosen as a sophomore, which is usually unheard of) of the school's literary magazine and is also in charge of their themed display case. She has a photo and a drawing artwork in the case.

Yesterday, I had an in-service day at work, which was basically come sign in at 7AM and then go back to our respective schools and work on any projects that we wanted to get done. Well, I was done by 9AM so I headed back home to work on some projects that I had been putting off at home. One of the things that I wanted to do was to get all of my seasonal items together in bins so that I could find them. I currently had them stored in different areas of the house. Not a good system. So, I cleaned out an area in the basement next to our freezer where I could put the bins. Each bin was labeled as Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter, and St. Patrick's Day/Valentine's Day. I still need to get my summer decorations tote put down there. I am so excited to have them all in one area! (My Christmas totes are in the laundry area and are all together.)

I also spent a little time taking down the Valentine's Day decorations and putting out my St. Patrick's Day ones. I picked up a few new items this year at Dollar Tree that are really cute in my opinion.

Today, I have been puttering around doing laundry and I took Ben to his basketball game. He had fun.

After the game, he and his brother were shooting around waiting for the middle school/high school portion to start and he jammed his finger on a ball. So, we are now home, icing his finger. I figured with the now extra time at home, I would hop on here and blog. In a bit, I have to start dinner--- super easy hot dogs tonight.

How is your Saturday going?

Spring-like Weather, Valentine's, and Sheamus

Happy Friday! We made it to the end of another work week. Today, the kids are home from school as it is staff in-service day. I will be heading to work here soon to do who knows what. Before I go though, I figure I would hop on here with some things from this week.

We have had some Spring like weather this week. In fact, on Monday I decided to do a quick walk around the park after work and before I had to pick kids up from school. It felt so good to get outside in the sunshine. On Wednesday it was sunny and 70 degrees outside! (Of course, yesterday it was rainy and today it is supposed to be 30 degrees!)

Tuesday of course was Valentine's Day. I made sure that the kids woke up to small boxes of candy and a card. Bill also got a Reeses heart and 2 cards. It was a good day. For dinner I made Bill's favorite dinner, chicken enchilada, salad and peanut butter pie. It was super yummy!

Bill made my Valentine's Day special with a special present that he made. He also got me some workout equipment and Reese's hearts.

Benjamin's class was doing their Valentine's party Thursday. So, we got some cards on Monday. He made them out on Tuesday night. Wednesday night we had to make his box- the last ever elementary school box we will have to make. Ben decided he wanted a Sheamus box. For those who don't know, Sheamus is an Irish WWE wrestler known as the Celtic Giant.

Today, I will be heading to work for a bit. After that I am off work until Tuesday, as there is no school next Monday. Not sure what fun I will get into. How was your week? Any fun plans this weekend?

Weigh In Wednesday #7 of 2023 on a Thursday

Happy Thursday night everyone! Sorry for not posting this yesterday. This week has been crazy busy with extra work hours and then I had to help Ben with his Valentine's and his Valentine's box for school and Tuesday was Valentine's Day so there is that. It has just been crazy. But for the sake of posterity and continuance I wanted to post my Weigh In for this week.

I mentioned in my New Year's goal post that I wanted to hopefully lose weight this year. I am at the heaviest I have ever been, and I NEED to lose weight to get healthy. I am going to make Wednesdays my weigh in Wednesday day. So, this will be my weekly update. Today is weigh in #7 for the year.

My Starting Weight on 1/1/2023: 265.8lbs.

My weight last week: 258.8lbs.

My weight this week: 259.6lbs.

Weight loss/gain from last week: +0.8lbs

Total weight loss Year to Date: -6.2lbs

I am not shocked that I gained weight. I am shocked that I am still under 260 pounds. With not feeling good, and not working out and just feeling blah, I thought I would have gained more. So far this week, it hasn't been a good week either with treats for Valentine's etc. We shall see what the numbers will be next week.

Are you on a weight loss journey? If you are on a weight loss journey, how is it going?

Menu Plan Monday #7 of 2023

Happy Monday everyone! Sorry for the late posting today. I had a super busy weekend and really did not plan out a menu until after I got home from picking the kids up from school. I usually plan it either on Saturday or Sunday, but not this weekend. Saturday, I woke up around 9:45am, ate, took my meds, and went back to sleep until 2:45pmish. I was exhausted and just didn't feel good all day. I still sound like Mickey Mouse with my voice.

Yesterday, we had church in the morning and in the afternoon, we attended my brother and his fiancée's gender reveal party for their baby who is due in July. I am getting a new niece! So excited for that. It was a football/softball themed party and my brother got to kick a football that exploded to show the gender.

Then it was home for the Super Bowl, where I fixed a few Super Bowl foods and just chilled. I ended up going to bed after the halftime show. My thoughts on the game are Go Chiefs! I am glad that they won. Chris Stapleton sang one of the best renditions of The National Anthem ever! And the halftime show was ugh in my opinion. I enjoyed the different platforms that Rihanna and her dancers used, however there could have been way less crotch grabbing and butt grabbing. Maybe I am just getting old. At least they were all fully clothed. LOL

Anyhow, that is why I didn't make up my menu plan until this afternoon. But at least I do have a menu plan now! So, let's get onto what we ate and what we will be eating here in our house this week:

So how did we do with last week's menu plan?

Monday: Bratwurst, macaroni and cheese, and veggies  cucumbers

Thursday: Cheeseburgers and Fries

Saturday: Hamburger Helper and peas for Bill and the kids, I will eat at the Rescue Project meeting   I wasn't feeling well, so Bill picked up McDonald's for dinner after the boys' basketball games.

Sunday: Super Bowl food (chicken wings, homemade queso and chips, veggies, chicken fries, and fruit.)

What are we eating this week?

Monday: Hamburger Helper and peas for Bill and the kids. I will eat something else.

Short post for Jean

Happy Saturday everyone. I am still feeling like crud so I took a day at home today. I got up around 10, ate, took my meds, and then ended up going back to bed and sleeping until around 2:45 or so. I sound like Mickey Mouse. LOL Jacob said he can't take me seriously when I yell.  It is what it is. I didn't go to Ben's basketball game or to my church group tonight.

Speaking of tonight, I went outside on our front porch to take a picture of the sunset as it was gorgeous and as I turned to come back in, I started laughing as I looked down. Jean, from Chit Chat with Jean, you are not the only one who still has a Christmas mat out! LOL

While you are laughing along with me, here is the pics of the sunset I was trying to get!

Hope everyone has had a good day!

15 Things About Me

Happy Thursday! One more day until the weekend. We can do this!

My blogging friend Billie Jo, over at Afternoon Coffee and Evening Tea, has declared this week "Get to Know Your Blog Friends Week." It's basically an excuse to learn more about each other in a fun way. I know other bloggers have joined in on the fun, including Jean from Chit Chat with Jean. I figured I will join in the fun as well. So here are fifteen facts that you probably didn't know about me.

  • From 1st through 5th grade, I attended a Catholic School where I was the only white student in the school. Everyone else was African American. It was the school connected to the church we belonged to.
  • I love sloths.
  • My favorite color is teal.
  • I have never flown in an airplane.
  • I am 1.1% Greek (according to my 23 and Me DNA results).
  • I have a fear of heights.
  • I don't like shrimp, scallops, oysters, lobster, crab or calamari.
  • I do like clam strips but not clam chowder.
  • Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author and I have all of his books in hardback form (my preferred book type.)
  • I do not like raspberries, blueberries or blackberries because of their texture, however I like the flavor they have.
  • I sleep with a fan on 365 days a year and it drives my husband batty. I even have a small, portable fan that I pack for when we are on vacation or staying in a hotel.
  • I don't like lasagna that is made with ricotta cheese. In fact, I don't like ricotta, blue cheese, cottage cheese, or sour cream.
  • I hate peas.
  • I like cauliflower, but only if it is fresh. I hate cooked cauliflower.
  • My first pet was a parakeet that I named Angel.
There you have it. 15 things that you may or probably did not know about me. What about you? What are some things about you that people don't know?

Weigh In Wednesday #6 of 2023

Happy Wednesday everyone! We made it to the middle of the week. I have been fighting off a cold this week. I just feel blah and run down. I am trying really hard not to get sick as I have a busy few days ahead of me.

I mentioned in my New Year's goal post that I wanted to hopefully lose weight this year. I am at the heaviest I have ever been, and I NEED to lose weight to get healthy. I am going to make Wednesdays my weigh in Wednesday day. So, this will be my weekly update. Today is weigh in #6 for the year.

The good things in my weight loss journey this past week were: I was aware of the food choices that I was making. I didn't stop for fast food for lunch even though I really, really wanted to. Instead I came home and heated up leftovers. I didn't drink any soda or any drinks with calories. It was all water and unsweetened tea a couple times.

The bad things in my weight loss journey this week were: I didn't journal my food or water intake. I didn't exercise at all.

So, taking into account the good and the bad, I guess it is time to get down to the facts and see if I lost any weight this week.

My Starting Weight on 1/1/2023: 265.8lbs.
My weight last week: 261.8lbs.
My weight this week: 258.8lbs.
Weight loss/gain from last week: -3.0lbs
Total weight loss Year to Date: -7.0lbs

I am beyond shocked that I lost weight. I even weighed myself 3 times to make sure it was not a mistake. I will take a 3-pound weight loss any week.

Are you on a weight loss journey? If you are on a weight loss journey, how is it going?
