I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Ours was busy as it was the opening weekend for the kids' Upwards basketball league. So we spent most of the morning and early afternoon at the kids' games. It was great though as I love watching them play. Sunday, we had church, went to Aldi, did some laundry and then I accomplished a huge decluttering project called "The boys' bedroom" LOL. Here are the befores::
Throughout the process, I went through EVERYTHING in their room and when it was all done I had a huge box of books and 2 trash bags of stuff to donate. I also had about a half a bag of trash. Here are the afters::
I am so happy that it is done and hopefully the boys will keep their room tidier now.
For now let's get on with the topics for "Happy Homemaker Monday" (hosted by the lovely Sandra over at "Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.") so that I can get to bed here soon.

Well my nature documentary is ending, so I should get this scheduled and head to bed because my alarm is going to be going off bright and early tomorrow. LOL. Hope everyone has a lovely day!
Fantastic cleanup Rachel! I am so envious of your decluttering. My daughter's room is shameful but as she is in her 20's I refuse to clean it myself - we just keep the door closed. BUT - this weekend I saw her in her room going through everything and making it so much neater! YAY! That's a first, usually I have to use threats!
ReplyDeleteI have the simplifying bug which is why I tackled their room. Rebecca's room sounds similar to Kazi's. I think I need a full day to tackle her room. LOL
DeleteDecluttering feels good! I've been doing some as soon as Christmas was put away. My son moved out mid-december so it was the perfect time to declutter his room! That crockpot potato soup sounds good, I'll go try and find a recipe. I,ve decided Thursdays would be a good crockpot day for me. Have a great week
ReplyDeleteThis is the recipe that I use for the soup...It is delicious. Even my picky kids love it!
DeleteCrockpot Potato Soup
Ingredients:
1 30oz. bag of frozen diced hash browns
1 32 oz box of chicken broth
1 can of cream of chicken soup (10 oz)
1 pkg. cream cheese (8 oz, not fat free)
3 oz bacon bits
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Put the hash browns in the crockpot. Add in the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup and half of the bacon bits. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Cook on low for 7-8 hours or until potatoes are tender.
An hour before serving, cut the cream cheese into small cubes. Place the cubes in the crock pot. Mix a few times throughout the hour before serving.
Once the cream cheese is completely mixed in, it's ready to serve.
Top with cheddar cheese and some additional bacon bits.
The boys' bedroom looks just great. I really enjoy looking at people's before and after photos, it inspires me! I'm actually looking forward to Spring cleaning this year and intend to do some serious decluttering.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week.
I also love before and afters. They are very inspiring. Good luck on your own decluttering!
DeleteGreat job on the clean up!! I too watched Marie Kondo on netflix... I binged it.. so I guess I did watch a little something this weekend (must go edit my post..lol) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWhat a wonderful transition and HUGE undertaking on the boy's room! PERFECT quote too - LOVE it. Your book sounds like a great read. Have a WONDERFUL week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamy!
DeleteI know a lot of people who have made resolutions to de-clutter and get organized. You are way ahead of them. The boys' room looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks... although it was the easiest I think of the rooms upstairs so now I just need to keep up the momentum. LOL
DeleteI did my post on Sunday night as well, sometimes life just happens that way. The boys' room looks great! Going to watch the last episode of Marie Kondo later to see if I can get motivated to do something today. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jean. I watched the last episode Monday night. I don't know... I didn't enjoy that one as much as the others. But they were all inspiring.
DeleteThe tidying went very well. How did the kids feel about letting go of stuff? My love of stuff began in childhood! LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThey were surprisingly okay with it. They were thrilled to be able to find their favorite toys again and clothes that they love but that they forgot they had because they had gotten buried under other stuff that they didn't like.
