Amish Country Weekend: Amish Country Theater

We spent a weekend in Ohio Amish Country. I am recapping our adventures here. To see what else we did, please visit:

After heading back to the hotel, we decided to swim and cool off. Thankfully, the pool was much less crowded in the afternoon and it was really fun to swim and splash around with the kids. Bill spent most of his time in the hot tub as he was having back spasms (we think it was the result of the mattress that we were sleeping on).

After swimming, we headed back to the room for a yummy snacky dinner and to get ready to go The Amish Country Theater.

According to it's website, The Amish Country Theater is "Award-Winning Live theater in Ohio’s Amish Country! Hold on to your seats and get ready for some explosive laughter! Voted a Top 100 Event in North America by the American Bus Association, Amish Country Theater’s shows are performed in a remarkable 600-seat auditorium with state-of-the art lighting, video, and sound. Plus, every event is designed to be fun for the whole family, from the littlest young’uns to the orneriest grand pappy!

We thought it would be a fun evening and something out of the ordinary. We went to see the variety show "When Pigs Fly."

Well according to Rebecca, it was the best part of our weekend. I will admit that I laughed more than I have in a really long time. The kids, Bill and I all really enjoyed the show and had a blast.

Bill even got called up to help out with the ventriloquist's final song!

Speaking of the ventriloquist, Benjamin LOVED the act. He was laughing so much!

Overall, it was a really great way to spend an evening with good clean, family fun. It was probably the least Amish thing we did but it was a great time. We have already said that we will have to make plans to go back to see a different show.

  1. Now, I want to go, too. Did you take those snack trays with you?

    1. The trays the boys were eating on were the trays in our hotel room that the ice buckets were on. I washed them and disinfected them with thieves essential oil. They were perfect for the boys to eat on.
