Happy Homemaker Monday (12/12/16)

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is getting into the holiday spirit. We had a busy but good weekend. We had friends over Saturday night for pizza and a movie. On Sunday we took the kids to see Santa, went to McDonald's and let them play on the play-land playground, and we got to play in the snow. Overall, it was a nice weekend.

Now it is Monday and time to get on with our Happy Homemaker Monday (hosted by our friend Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom).

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:::

We had about an inch or two of snow on Saturday night, so the kids got to play in it yesterday for a bit. Last night it all turned to rain, so now everything is a slushy, icy mess. I think we are supposed to have more snow tomorrow and then ice later in the week. I know that temperatures are supposed to nose-dive later in the week as well. I guess winter is finally showing it's face.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:::

Bob Evans sausage and cheese biscuit and a banana.

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:::

I see slush and wet, brown ground. I also see that our neighbor still has their Christmas lights on.

RIGHT NOW I AM:::

Typing up this post, listening to "Star Wars: A New Hope" on the TV per Benjamin's request. I am also thinking about my to do list and what else I want to get done this week

The house is in good shape. Ben is playing with his toys on the dining room table. There are breakfast dishes to do but the kitchen looks good.

WHAT I AM CREATING AT THE MOMENT:::

I will be making cookies this week for teacher gifts. I have also been coloring in an adult holiday coloring book and finding that to be relaxing.

LESSON LEARNED  THIS WEEK:::

I need to start saying yes more to my kids. Yesterday, Rebecca was surprised that I was actually going to go outside with them to play in the snow. She said I usually stay in while they go out. I need to change that.

So there you have it, a little peek into my life on this December Monday! Hope everyone has a great Monday and a wonderful week!

  1. I recently read about the time we have with our children. I am paraphrasing but the writer said the years are short, but some days are long. Since mine are grown and gone I see how true that is. Nothing is more important than your kids and the time you spend with them. Enjoy every minute, even the occasional snowball fight!

  2. Your menu sounds delicious.

    My kids are now 17 and 13 and my girl is moving out next year and so many times I sit back and want time to just stop. Our days with our littles go by so very fast, we have to enjoy every minute :)

  3. Polar Express is one of my favorites. I was a bit sad when my boys grew up to the point they didn't want to watch it anymore. I may have to watch it by myself just because. I always liked to strike a balance between being out with the kids and being in where it was warm making hot cocoa ;) ha! Hope you are having a wonderful week!
