Menu Plan and Grocery Shopping

This weekend I went grocery shopping with the plan to just stock up on some stuff at a great price, get milk and produce and hopefully spend less than $75. Well I went over budget, again! Prices are just rising all over the place, Kroger's new coupon policy is ANNOYING, and I just need to reevaluate how I shop. I think starting next week I will be starting primary shopping at Aldi and the Dollar Tree, and if there is a great sale on something go to Kroger. I am so SO SO SICK of Kroger's rising prices it is not even funny.

Anyway, here is what I bought this week....(Yay I remembered to take pictures!)....

Aldi trip #1-- Spent $21.57

Dollar Tree---Spent $6.00

Kroger trip--Spent $42.54

Aldi trip #2--Spent $13.32

So that is a grand total of : (DRUM ROLL PLEASE).......$83.43... Over budget by  $8.48....
I guess I can count my blessings that it was less than $100 this week. Our freezers are pretty full and the food above made our cabinets pretty full so I think we should be able to reach $60 or less next week....Fingers crossed!

Now on to this weeks menu:

  1. I love your first paragraph! I read it out loud to my husband because it sounds just like what I have been saying. Each week I find that I am doing more and more of our shopping at Aldi and filling in around the edges with Sam's Club and only going to Kroger for the (fewer and fewer) great deals. After seeing the Hunt's ketchup and Fiber One Bars from your Dollar Tree trip, I now need to pay much more attention to their food section - thanks for helping me to save more money each week with this idea!

  2. Aww thanks Amanda! Glad to see that I made sense to you. And glad that I am not the only one who is seeing this trend. Have a good day!
